Live Well. Laugh Often. Love Much.

LOK MAKAN LOK!

That day we balik kampung, you know?

Read on.

I have been so curious about the whole FRC’s Malacca Lok Lok Steamboat Buffet for the longest time. But I just could not find the right time or occasion to try it out.

For Daddy’s birthday and Bertram’s belated birthday celebration, I was initially trying to figure out where exactly to bring the birthday men and the rest of the big family for dinner.

LIKE DUH! WHERE ELSE, RIGHT?!!!!

I can be such a goondu at times.

So we went to FRC’s Malacca Lok Lok Steamboat Buffet to celebrate!

Okay I am sure some of you must be wondering already at this point of time what in the world Lok Lok is. Trust me, I did not know until the kind owner told me herself.

Lok Lok is basically a Malacca version of the ever so popular steamboat meal except that the food served is skewered. If you frequent Malaysia regularly, you will also know that Lok Lok is a kind of street food that is extremely popular in Malaysia. A wide selection of food is skewered, ranging from seafood to meats to vegetables.

Freshness guaranteed, only at FRC’s Malacca Lok Lok Steamboat Buffet!

So what do you do with the skewered food? If it is uncooked, you just dip into a hot boiling pot of soup and errrr…you cook it! Once the food is cooked, you eat it off the skewer!

FRC3

See the gorgeous vegetable bouquet right above? Well, you can pluck each skewer out and cook it as well! It is not simply for decorative purpose, okay? LOL.

If you love steamboat, you will definitely love FRC’s Malacca Lok Lok Steamboat Buffet!

Besides skewered uncooked food for your steamboat buffet, there is also an array of cooked dishes like noodles and fried rice.

 FRC1

Oh, they have dessert too!

And the best thing about FRC’s Malacca Lok Lok Steamboat Buffet is, you can choose two soup bases of your choice and enjoy them both at the same time!

Yup, this is how it looks like before you start to imagine the wrong things. LOL.

 FRC19

4 soup bases to choose from:

  • LAKSA
  • TOM YAM
  • CHICKEN
  • SATAY

frc20

I tried the four types of soup base, and I enjoyed them all!

If I have to choose my favourites? Satay and tom yam!

The satay soup base is basically what Malacca Lok Lok steamboat buffet is all about. It is unlike the typical soup base which we have often tried for steamboat.

This is skewered fish dipped in the satay soup base!

SUPER SEDAP, I TELL YOU!

With the sambal kicap and other sauces which they have, you cannot stop eating. Dip here, dip there.

And since we are at the topic of sambal, let me get to the next part.

GREAT NEWS! THE SUPERSHIOK SAMBAL & SAMBAL KICAP WILL NOW BE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE AT FRC DINING!

SHIOK1

YES YES YESSSSSS! YOU CAN PURCHASE IT ON THE SPOT AND ENJOY YOUR LOK LOK WITH IT!

Now, I have always been a fan of steamboat. So I definitely came with a very empty stomach that evening. I bet the rest of my family members also came feeling oh so hungry.

One thing for sure, that particular someone ate so much that day! No need to mention names or point fingers lor. Just put up her picture enough already!

The rustic kampung ambience at FRC’s Malacca Lok Lok Steamboat Buffet is very airy, peaceful and relaxing. When I was there, I really felt like I was dining at the kampung, right under the stars and the full moon.

Sorry do not disturb me. I was too busy enjoying my food (and looking pretty) till I had no time to look at the camera.

 FRC4

Give me some privacy once in a while, can? 😀

OKAY LAH I LOOK LAH!
