Live Well. Laugh Often. Love Much.

It takes two.

I was browsing my online album when I chanced upon this picture of Mysha & Myreen with their friends.

Having twins was never in my long-range plan. I was not the little girl who dreamt that she would get married, get pregnant, and have twins. I did not think that having twins would be fun. I thought it would be impossible for me to even be pregnant with twins. That was my story then. But now my story has changed, because of Mysha and Myreen. Undeniably, being a parent to twins or multiples is an experience full of ups, downs, and somewhere in between at times. Challenges are aplenty, but so are the moments where I count my lucky stars for their presence in my life.

In just a matter of days, my twins will be turning two, insya’allah. They are indeed my pride, and  my joy because of the following reasons, and many more.

  • 2-in-1 pregnancy

One pregnancy = two babies! Enough said.

  • Alike but so different

Strangers may find them so alike but they are just so different in every way. It is always interesting to see how they develop as individuals. One thing for sure, they do not like the same thing, and neither do they loathe the same thing too. They are just….different.

  • I feel like a superstar

I admit, I do get a thrill of pride in being a mummy to twins.  I have learned that people are so easily fascinated by twins, especially senior citizens who will often stop us for a chat. It is like being a part of an elite club. I feel like I get to enjoy an exclusive status in the parenting world, and earn a  nod of respect for pulling double duty. Hehe. I am sure mummies to multiples will agree with me on this. The fact is, we have been given the extra responsibility, and that makes us somewhat…special?

  • Sticks like glue

The special bond that my twins share is more enduring than any other relationship. Despite their daily fights over toys and silly squabbles, it is definitely comforting to know that they have this unique relationship. I love the fact that they will always have each other to rely on. I especially love it when they enter a new or unfamiliar environment with total surety just because they are together.

As their mummy, I feel really privileged to be a part of their special bond.

Mysha & Myreen, you both are truly blessings from Allah.

Happy turning TWO on 23rd September!
