Live Well. Laugh Often. Love Much.

That feeling when you finally let go: Dulcolax

I do not know about you, but I do get very agitated and restless if I do not pass my stools on a daily basis, or have very hard ones once I do. The feeling is just not right.

You get what I mean?

I often suffer from constipation when I travel overseas.

MUST BE TRAVEL STRESS BECAUSE I DO NOT REALLY LIKE TO TRAVEL. I ONLY LIKE TO DRAG THE LUGGAGE AND PRETEND THAT I AM A FLIGHT STEWARDESS. LOL.

Seriously now, I vividly remember how bad my constipation was when we went to Australia the other time. I felt uncomfortable because I could not release my stools. The urge was not there. I kept going to the toilet in an attempt to pass stools, but to no avail. And when I finally did, my stools were so tiny and hard.

NOT SYIOK LAH LIKE THAT.

LUCKILY I DISCOVERED DULCOLAX RECENTLY.

(Solution to constipation, it really is.)

Read on.

The main reason behind constipation when travelling is the shifting mealtimes. Like, you cannot have your regular meals. You end up eating a lot of junk in return, just to feed your hunger.

They also say that when we are away from home, it takes a few days before your mind becomes accustomed to ‘pooping’ in new environments.

Some other causes of constipation when travelling:

  • Unfamiliar toilet
  • Unfamiliar foods
  • Dramatic shift in climate
  • Dehydration
  • Different timezone

What exactly is constipation?

It is defined as having a bowel movement less than three times a week. It is often accompanied by straining, pain, bloatedness and the sensation of a full bowel.

The more you age, the lower your metabolism. And when metabolism rate decreases, it also means you are more prone to constipation.

What you eat and drink, and how much you exercise are contributing factors to the number of bowel movements you get. Some people can ‘let go’ three times a day. Some, three times a week. It all depends on your system.

HAVE YOU EVER CONSIDERED USING LAXATIVES?

Okay okay, I know. You must be thinking that I must be out of my mind to even suggest using laxatives to provide constipation relief. Most of us will usually only consider laxatives as the last resort treatment,

Aren’t laxatives supposed to be harsh?

 NOT DULCOLAX.

JUST TAKE ONE TABLET BEFORE BEDTIME, AND BE AT EASE THE FOLLOWING MORNING.

I was suffering from constipation for the past few days. I took Dulcolax (just one tiny pill) before bedtime.

The next morning when I woke up at about 7 am, I did not feel anything initially. Like there was no urge to ‘let go’ as well.

So I was thinking,

“Aiyah, this pill is not working!”

Minutes later (like 10 minutes later), I started to have a tummy signal. You know, the kind of tummy call which you get and which makes you want to get to the toilet?

YES THAT.

(I actually love it when that happens)

FELT SO SYIOK AFTER THAT.

I cannot wait for my next vacation because I am definitely bringing Dulcolax along with me.
