You’re On Trial.

Hi.

I am sure you must have read all my WowART blog posts this far. I am sure you must have also noticed me WOW-ing about them 24/7.

But what to do? They are really that good, and my Nadyas super enjoy their WowART art classes.

So why not share the goodness with my blog readers?

After all, most of you are just like me too; parents/mummies with small kids. We are forever thinking of enrolling our kids in this class or that class, but sometimes, we do not even know whether this class or that class is worth it, beneficial to the kids, or most importantly, is something that the kids will look forward to attending every single week without a single whine or complain. (Wah. Such a long sentence there.)

And that is why we need trial lessons sometimes, just to reassure ourselves.

Well, you will be pleased to know that WowART will be offering trial art lessons for only my blog readers at a special price of…

$20 ONLY!

The original trial lesson is $38, so yup, you SAVE $18 just by being my blog reader! How awesome can life be if you read the right blog at the right timing, right? :D

So what do you need to do now?

SIMPLE.

Just tell me in 1000 words why you love my blog that much.

You need to call or email WowART for advanced booking and quote the promo code WOW&ETRANGLE.

HURRY BECAUSE THE OFFER IS ONLY FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER 2012!

The fun and cool people at WowART will then share the studio schedules for you to enquire about availability. The trial lessons will take place during their actual weekly lessons. Don’t worry, they have lessons from Wednesdays to Sundays at several timings!

You can choose from these following programs:

1. Art Play – 2.5 to 4 yrs old, (max 8 students per class)

2. Art Alive – 5 to 6 years old, (max 12 students per class)

3. Art Kidz – 7 and above, (max 12 students per class)

Each class is about 1 hr 15 mins long, just for your information. Totally worth the $20 that you will be paying. In fact, even if it’s at the original price of $38, it is still worth it. If your little one has that strong passion for art, don’t let his/her talent remain undiscovered.

Look at Mysha and Myreen, for instance. You may think that they were just drawing or doodling.

But look at the end products which they came up with!

You can’t help but to go “WOW!” right? :D

Okay let’s go! Don’t waste time. Call WowART now at 63522221 or email them at wowstudio@wow.com.sg to book a trial art lesson for your kid!

Honestly, if you ask me, you do not need the trial lesson in order to find out how awesome WowART is for your kid(s) or how much they will actually enjoy it. Why, you can just sign them up immediately for the weekly art class! I confirm plus chop that it will be worth your money. You can click on THIS WOW POST or THAT WOW POST to read about the Nadyas’ experiences so far with WowART.

But then again, since the trial lesson is now going only at $20 especially for all my blog readers, why not right? And the best thing is, should you decide to sign your child up for the weekly art class after attending the trial lesson, WowART will not even charge you for that trial lesson! Want to know why? The trial lesson will be considered as the first of 12 lessons (terms and condition applies)!

WOW!

So visit WowART at their FB page HERE & give them a good LIKE now for being so generous to my blog readers!

wow, Wow, WOW!

My girls cannot wait for the September holidays because they know that when September comes, it can only mean that they will be attending…

HOLIDAY ART WORKSHOPS BY WowART!

Oh believe me, the Nadyas have been going on and on about WowART ever since they attended the June Holidays Workshops. I can totally understand why because even though they each only attended two workshops each during the June holidays, whatever they experienced from attending the workshops was enough to make them want to come back for more.

And because they knew they were going to WowART for their art workshops, they made sure they were dressed nicely. For the love of art, they will really do anything. Hahaha!

You know, Tatek was so impressed with the way the trained instructors from WowART conducted the workshops the other time and told me to just enroll them in for the weekly art classes at WowART. Yup, instructors are trained, and most of them are graduates from reputable art institutions like LaSalle and NAFA.

Besides the usual holiday art workshops, WowART will be introducing a new ACTIVE learning program which will have your children participating and collaborating with peers in a series of fun and enriching experiences. The highly interactive nature of these lessons will encourage your children to explore and make new discoveries and as they go along, be nurtured in their social and emotional competencies.WowART has prototyped the Program for Active Learning (PAL) in partnership with Singapore’s Ministry of Education since 2008. They have an ongoing PAL collaboration with more than 20 schools including Nanyang Primary School, Anglo Chinese School Junior, Methodist Girls School and Haig Girls’ School among others.

Interesting, isn’t it?

The first workshop Mysha and Myreen attended  during the June holidays was…

M A S Q U E R A D E!

I really, R E A L L Y liked how the attention was really given to them throughout the workshop. Even though the instructor was there to guide them step by step, Mysha and Myreen were also given the “responsibilities” of completing their masks and personalizing them with their favourite colours, for instance. In other words, there was a personal touch to each mask, and just by looking at the end products, I could actually tell who did what.

Mysha on the left. Myreen on the right. Collectively known as MAK NENEKS.

And while the twins attended the Masquerade workshop, Sharleez was next door, completely engrossed in the head sculpture. Sharleez and the other students in the workshop were given the freedom to customize their head sculptures accordingly. Look at the number of instructors in one class! Individual attention guaranteed!

I thought it was pretty amazing when I saw what Sharleez came up with. The head sculpture really resembled her, with long hair tied in two pigtails and all.

After the first workshop was over, the girls came out for a while to wash their hands. They did just that and wanted to rush straight back to class.

Tatek and I were actually outside the classrooms, anxiously waiting for them. I thought they would be super excited to see us. Apparently not.

“Okay Mummy, there’s another art class right? Bye bye!”

Nice.

The second workshop, they attended on the same day, together. Yup, all three of them were in the same workshop, and they were in a totally different world…

They were in the World of Henna.

Look at what they came up with!

AWESOME POSSUM!

So tell me now, which normal kid would not be asking for more after having so much fun at WowART?

In fact, my girls were supposed to start on their weekly Art classes with WowART already but due to my super busy schedule of late, I have to postpone their classes for a bit more. Wait for us okay, WowART!

But worry not, my Nadyas will be attending the September School Holidays Workshops at WowART, and they want all of you little ones to experience the same fun as them too and join them for the workshops.

And oh, the Nadyas have ONE EXTRA WORKSHOP PASS WORTH $38, and would like to choose ONE LUCKY FRIEND between the age of 3 to 6 years old to join the same workshops as them! If you are keen to join them and be their BFF, do choose the cutest picture of you and email me at asketrangle@gmail.com! I will ask the Nadyas to pick the lucky winner. Hehehe.

UPDATED ON 1 SEPTEMBER 2012:

Nadyas have decided on the winner, and I think they chose the winner mainly because they are super close with her. You know how kids are with people they know right? The moment they saw Sharafynna’s email, they went

“IT’S OUR BEST FRIEND, LET HER WIN PLEASE MUMMY!”

I have nothing to do with this win, okay? I really asked the Nadyas chose the winner, as mentioned. :D

CONGRATS SHARAFYNNA!

But come on, just look at Sharafynna and that sweet smile of hers. Gorgeous!

Thank you so much to the rest of the little cuties who emailed me your pictures.Really and truly appreciate the emails from all of you!  If I had more free workshop passes to give away, I would gladly choose all of you as the winners! But there’s always next time, or better still, you can still join the Nadyas for the workshop by giving WowART a call now! Psst. The Nadyas will be attending the Monday morning workshops for the September holidays! :)

Smokey Eyes Workshop

Hey ladies, it has been too long since Nurul and I both had group makeup workshops for all of you. Here’s the true story – we had to stop our group workshops for a while because Nurul got pregnant and was also busy moving house all at the same time. On top of that, our studio was under renovation and we could not think of any better place to hold the workshops.

But since response for our past group workshops were really overwhelming, we have decided to make a comeback with the most popular workshop, SMOKEY EYES!

Come join Nurul and I,  and see how each of us does the smokey eye makeup on somebody else’s face! It’s going to be fun, as usual. Ask us anything you want!

Details? Here you go!

We really hope to see you there!

More group workshops coming up too! So stay tuned to Studioperfect Makeup! :)

B E A U T Y .

Describe myself. I am an ambitious and detail-oriented individual who takes great pride in whatever I do. When I took up a professional makeup course two years back, I only had one goal in mind – to help women see themselves as confident, beautiful and strong. Every woman is beautiful in her own ways. But because of the media and society presenting images of thin women all the time as being beautiful and desirable, most women do not feel beautiful anymore. Women think they are fat. Women start to measure beauty. Women think being fat or fleshy is not beautiful. They begin to lose confidence in themselves. They start comparing themselves to other women. And worst of all, they do not make the effort to bring out the beauty in them, or they do not realize that they are indeed already beautiful.

So that’s when I come in, with my heavy makeup bag. Hehehe.

Being a good makeup artist is not simply about putting makeup on faces. Being a good makeup artist is about learning to communicate with different types of people and faces. Everyone is different, and I make it a must to find out from my client prior to every makeup session the kind of look she would like me to help her achieve. The key is to be confident in my abilities, listen well to the clients, and carry out what I think is a good combination of every client’s wishes and my skills. Just my skills or certificate alone will not suffice because come on, anyone can learn makeup and get that certificate anytime!

Just the other day, I had the chance to do yet another beautiful collaboration with Pink Elephant Labs. I did the makeup and styling for two different looks while Indriana from Pink Elephant Labs did the studio photography. Such an excellent combo! I thought it would be a great way for me to update my makeup portfolio as well because I seriously cannot recall the last time I updated it.

Have I told you already how much I love working with Indriana? This lady really knows her work well, and sets high expectations for herself as far as her work is concerned. She is a perfectionist and kept tinkering with the lighting and composition prior to the studio session until it was right. She is by far, one of the most enthusiastic, passionate and talented photographer I have worked with – easy to talk to, funny, and full of energy.

Sharifah did a really excellent job as the model for the entire studio photography session. I was really so happy with the turnout because she could portray well the different looks I wanted for the photoshoot. One moment she was the bubbly girl next door and the next moment, she was the sexy, edgy and chic girl. Amazing yeah? Sharifah could not have done it alone without the kind guidance and directions from Indriana. Sharifah felt really at ease throughout the photoshoot. Things just flowed from there.

For the first look, it was the Girl Next Door look. Sharifah basically had to be herself most of the time– bubbly, cheerful and adorable. It was not difficult at all to get Sharifah to laugh because just like me, she laughs all the time over anything and everything. So since she was being herself, the shots taken were really beautiful.

So what exactly did I do on/to her to achieve the first look? Since I wanted her to look really sweet and girly, I did the pink makeup on her – pink eyes, pink cheeks, and pink lips. However too much pink on the face can be pretty overwhelming, right? On Sharifah’s eyes, I mixed dusky pink eyeshadow with a bit of black shadow. Personally I think pink eyeshadow looks gorgeous on the skin and opens up your eyes, especially if you have a fair complexion. Of course, it takes a lot of good blending as far as the eyeshadow is concerned. And good blending requires a lot of practice. This is where my 1 to 1/ 2 to 1 makeup class will come in handy. Hehehe. Will talk about this later.

For now, let me present to you the first look.

For the second look, it was the edgy and sexy look all put together - a complete opposite of the first look. I had to remind Sharifah that she was not allowed to smile for the second look, but to just pose with lots and lots of attitude. She was supposed to “seduce” the camera with simply her hair, eyes and lips. All I can say is, thank goodness the photographer was a lady! Hehe. Seriously now, it was not an easy feat because like I what mentioned earlier on, Sharifah LOVES to smile, laugh and giggle!

To achieve the second look, I did the most popular type of eye makeup – SMOKEY EYES! Don’t you just love smokey eyes but don’t you just hate it when you end up looking like a panda instead? So sad, right? Attend my makeup class and I will teach you to nicely do the smokey eye look. For now, some pointers. I used loads of eyeliner and black eyeshadow on the eyes to create this look. I smudged the liner, and kept on blending until the colours turned out soft and nice. And since eye makeup was already very heavy, the lips should be nude!

Let’s take it personal.

I love makeup. I love teaching. So what do I do?

I start conducting 1-to-1 makeup class at home, that’s what.

How different is this 1 to 1 makeup class from the normal group makeup classes? VERY different in so many ways:

  1. There’s more privacy! You do not have to feel shy at all about asking me questions or doubts you might have with regards to makeup application & products.
  2. You get all the attention from me. Time is better spent doing and learning about makeup related to you and only you.
  3. Your money is well-spent. Whatever that is covered during the class serves to teach you & only you how to apply makeup correctly on your own face. You won’t go home thinking, “Damn. If only Diah could show me how that would look on my face. Not fair!”
  4. Free makeup by me! I will demonstrate both the everyday and evening makeup on your face, using the colours and shades that are most suitable for your skin and features.

So what do I normally do during the 1-to-1 makeup class with my students? You have to email me at asketrangle@gmail.com to find out what! Very engaging, you know? My students will never have the chance to yawn even! Hehe. But really, the two hours given for each class is always very well-spent, and I make it a point for my students to leave my house contented and satisfied with what they have learnt , and what they have paid me. My favourite question? “Are you clear? Do you want me to repeat?”

TEACHER, WHAT!

Many of those who already emailed me are quite worried that they do not have the correct makeup tools or products for the class. My advice?

DO NOT WORRY LADY.

Bring whatever you already have or whatever that you know you will use. There’s no point really buying something especially for the class but putting it aside thereafter until it expires. I can always demonstrate on your face using what I have first, and then I will advise you accordingly on what you should get to complete the look.

Just a few days back, I had the 1-to-1 makeup class with student Wani! Want to know what she thinks?

Hello Kak!

Feedback for the makeup class;

The very first thing, Kak Diah is VERY fast and efficient in replying my email! Lol! Basically I asked for her guidance for makeup so that I would know the exact technique in applying my makeup. And she teaches me slowly, answering my questions patiently even though I keep asking her, “Kak, ok tak? Macam lain je dengan what you thought me.” or “Kak, balance ke my both eyes Nya colour?” Lol! We did a usual and function makeup and she advised me on what to apply or what to purchase. The challenge came in when she asked to remove all my makeup and redo it again! Lol! But that’s where you learn what she have thought! Overall, I’m very satisfied from the way she reply my email, to SMS, advise on makeup, and application of makeup. So sweet of Kak Diah to make time for me despite her busy schedule! Oh not forgetting, she’s very friendly! Even her babies were very friendly!

Conclusion, SATISFIED CUSTOMER! :) )

Much love;

Wanee

Haha! Wani was quite apprehensive when I asked her to remove the makeup right after I did the demo on her face. She was like, “Sure ah Kak?”  But my purpose of doing that was not to scare her but to let her apply what she has learnt. It would be so wasted if she couldn’t do so.

I managed to snap some pictures during the class with Wani’s consent, of course.

Half of Wani with evening makeup, as done by me. Since Wani doesn’t like wearing lipstick, I skipped the lipstick application part. Remember, the class is ALL ABOUT YOU!

 1-1

The challenge came when she had to apply everyday makeup first, followed by evening makeup!

And this, Wani’s work! (Pardon the bad, bad quality of picture!)

Superb right? She is such a bright girl. She eventually mastered the correct way to draw her eyebrows at the end of the lesson. So proud of her!

Hi kak diah!

How are you? Remember me still? Im yani who had a lesson with u on 15feb at noon?

I’d already bought the things u recommended me and have been practicing the techniques ever since.  My makeup is so much better now. & I AM SOO HAPPY ABT IT! kak, my brows now look soo good, i tell u.<3

Remember how my routine was, putting on makeup whenever i have the time for school.. Now.. I made a point to wake up EARLIER than usual. To put my make up on, applying what uve taught me. :) (Psst, only when i master the skill tho.) i even put on a base now with olay moisturizer with a touch of foundation.

Thank you kak diah for making me a more confident and pretty lady. :)

Ur lesson is worth every penny spent.

u’ve motivated me! I hope i will look as beautiful as u when i reached ur age and when i have kids! I wanna be a hot momma like u too.

:)

Love,
Khairiany

 Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

I am back to irritate you! Hehehe!!! I am missing you and your girls already. Really had fun today during the lesson.

Seriously kak, before your lesson, I knew nuts about makeup! Now I know so much within 2 hours! You were willing to share everything you knew and I did not even see you trying to hide anything. You should be charging more for what you taught me! As compared to other makeup classes I went to where the makeup artist made everything look so nice but when I tried myself, I could not achieve the same result, your class is different! You made sure I practised untile I got the technique right, and not once did you discourage me!

My boyfriend likes my new makeup and says I should learn more from you!!!! I dont mind! Tell me when I can sign up for the advance personal makeup class ok!!!

Much loveeessss,

Sharifah

——————————————————-

Dear Diah

The service that you provided was excellent. Now, I know the proper technique of applying make-up. Your demeanour made the session fun & effective. I will sure recommend this workshop to others.

Thank you for a wonderful time.

P.S: Send my love to your girls. So cute and so well-behaved!
