Raya with the Roslans!

Yes! We finally had the much awaited Raya outing on Sunday. Man, I waited five super long days for this! Four cars, fourteen heads & countless laughter – again, it was just too bad Shafiq was not around. We started the outing only at 11 am, but by 8 pm we were all completely disquieted and obviously knackered. We had plans to go all the way till midnight initially. The nerve! What is it about Raya outings that make me so tired, anyway? Is it the heels? The weather? The makeup?  The food? The drinks? The endless photo taking? The kids? The bag? OR IS IT THE CORSET? :D

We have yet to cover most of the important houses during that one outing because almost everyone was out too that day. This is the most grating part about Hari Raya falling on a weekday. Very pointless. By the time the weekend came, half of my Raya mood was already gone actually.

And since we started our outing in the morning, my girls had to miss their naptime. We kept prolonging their naptime until they finally surrendered and said “Mummy I want to sleep.”  So we planned. We went to the farthest away house possible from where we were at just so that the girls could nap a bit longer in the car. And we told everyone to drive slowly. Hahaha! They have to sleep for at least an hour on normal days so since our journey took about thirty minutes only, we spent another half an hour in the car waiting for them to wake up.

Okay, here are the pictures.  *wipes sweat*

NAH!!

Bertram actually bought this white Baju Melayu for Raya.  We are so touched, Bert!  :)

What’s our Raya without kaftans right. After all, Studiofrost has been selling kaftans all along so it is a must to wear them. I love my kaftan and my girls’ kaftans too because we made do without the sash this time round. The kaftans were made to measure so they fit very nicely on us.  So the final outcome is a fine combination of  the baju kurung and kaftan.

And to our most favourite couple besides ourselves, thank you for the invite and for treating us like First Class passengers visitors!

Check out Mak’s super sleepy eyes! Hahaha!

And the kids.. what would Raya be without the kids?

22-raya

Yup, they were pretty much bored after some time. Maybe they still do not quite understand the logic behind Raya visiting.

Might as well sit down one corner and eat peanuts, right Myreen?

Let’s  just be completely honest and shove the songkok one side, right Shan?

Or maybe, just find something for self entertainment, like the fat cat underneath the bed?

But at the end of the day, Raya is all about making peace.

Raya has been so much fun this far!

And how’s your Raya this far? Inviting me & the Nadyas to your house or not?  :D

Sarah & Studiofrost.

This blog post is especially dedicated to all Studiofrost buyers. You mean so much to us, y’know? And only special people should be mentioned in my blog. :p

Firstly, thank you for supporting us all along.  We thought we should work extra harder for Hari Raya this year so we came up with so many new things for Studiofrost like:

A variety of new arrivals for Hari Raya to cater to Hijab wearers as well.

Custom made Studiofrost “green” packets for Studiofrost buyers who spend more than $120.

AND…….

Click on the above picture for a BIGGER & BETTER view!

A special feature by Sarah Aqilah, one of the most loved Suria celebrities! Everybody scream with me now!! When both Nurul and I were brainstorming which celebrity we should invite to do a special appearance at Studiofrost, we thought of Sarah Aqilah all at once. It was an honour indeed to have her model some of our Hari Raya collection. She obviously rocked all our outfits, and despite her not being as gigantic as Nurul and me, she was still able to fit very nicely into our outfits. Don’t believe me? See the pictures yourself then! Would I even think of lying during this holy month of Ramadhan? Tsk.

So here’s the best part, whatever that you see on Sarah is available for purchase at www.studiofrost.net . Ready stocks for all, and we will make sure you receive your orders before Hari Raya. Oh, and because you are so special to us, introductory prices for all our Hari Raya collection! Save up to $17 for one outfit! now that’s really a lot of savings.

But you got to hurry though because WHILE STOCKS LAST.

It was a double honour for me to have Sarah Aqilah for our photoshoot because I had the big fat chance to do her makeup and hair. My super awesome partner Nurul, on the other hand, did the photography for the entire photoshoot yesterday. Yeah, big deal okay because my girls are BIG FANS of Sarah!  When they found out they were going to meet Sarah, they slept so early the night before, woke up so early on the day of photoshoot, and behaved extremely well hours before meeting her. While waiting for Sarah to arrive, they took turns to ask, “Where is Sarah Aqilarrrr, Mummy?”

So I told them this.

“Sarah Aqilah your friend is it? AUNTIE SARAH LA!”

The moment they saw Sarah, I swear they were starstruck. Jaw drop moment for the three of them. Expected. I was just so glad they did not lose control of themselves. They were still quite cool. (Phew!)

For the photoshoot, Sarah requested for light natural looking makeup. What do you know? Studioperfect specializes in that kind of makeup la Sarah! :D

Sarah, if you are reading this, thank you so much for your time on behalf of the entire Studiofrost team (which actually consists of just Nurul & me). But hey, team sounds bigger and better, right? So yeah, Studiofrost team. :)

Before I end this, here’s a short video from Sarah Aqilah herself for all Studiofrost supporters & her fans!

Challenge of the X

For every makeup class that I conduct, I always have a goal that I die die want to achieve at the end of it. And the goal is to make sure every student leaves my house looking better than before. And the reason why she looks better is certainly not because of what I do on her face BUT because of what she does on her face using her hands plus her newly acquired/improved makeup skills. This is the reason why I make my makeup classes as hands on as I possibly can. “Happy? Okay remove your makeup now and redo!” I would go all the time before leaving the student on her own for a few minutes. And the same look on everyone’s faces? The big eyes and mouth wide open kind. Classic right? Hehehe.

But look. Ultimately, she has to do her own makeup every day, without any help from others. She has to rely on the makeup skills that she has. She has to trust her own hands. So my hands on her face OR her hands on her face?

Therefore it gives me great satisfaction each time I browse through their Twitpics or FB photos and see how awesome they look now, and how much their makeup skills have improved. And it’s not thanks to me. I do not want to take the credit. It’s all thanks to their determination and constant practice. So well done girls, if I have not already said so earlier.

Which brings me to this entry…

Famous?

Someone emailed me a really cute question a few days back. But this person prefers to remain anonymous so for the purpose of this entry, I am not going to copy and paste her email to me. I will just copy and paste…her question. Haha!

This is what she asked me:

“”How many famous faces have you worked on Diah Mastura? Curious and very kepo to know, if my honesty helps. :D However,  do not mention my name should you decided to mention this because I do not want to be known as the kepo one among my friends. Many of them  read your famous blog!”

Such a cute yet thought-provoking question that was to me. I have never thought about it before. But right after I received that email, I actually spent some time trying to recall on the “famous” faces I have worked on ever since I started my job as a makeup artist. Not that many famous faces la, but quite enough to make me strive even harder in this makeup industry.

So are you as curious as Anonymous? Let’s start counting then. Not that many, so you only need your fingers for now to count. :p

Famous Face Number 1: Syirah Jusni, the winner of Anugerah Skrin. When she had this makeover with Studioperfect, she was not even in the TV industry yet. So I was really overwhelmed with pride when Syirah won, you know?

fam-3

Famous Face Number 2: Aziela Roza, a finalist in Anugerah Skrin. Again, when Aziela had this makeover with Studioperfect, she was not in the industry as yet. So I was very, very excited when I saw her on TV.

fam-6

Famous Face Number 3: Nabilah from Cinta Ixora. When Nabilah was shortlisted to model for Studiofrost’s New Arrivals at one point of time, she was also not in the TV industry as yet. I could not contain my excitement when I saw her on Cinta Ixora for the first time. And I got to work on her pretty face again for a Manja Fashion Spread featuring Studiofrost.

fam-8

fam-9

Famous Face Number 4: Nura J Esman, actress and host of Krayon. Nura also happened to be my fellow course mate from NIE. Yup, we were both trainee teachers at that point of time, eager to join the teaching industry. To date, we have both left the teaching industry. :p I did her makeup for another fashion spread with Manja.

fam-11

Famous Face Number 5: Nona Kirana, radio DJ for 94.2 fm and news presenter. I was privileged enough to be able to doll the super awesome Nona up for her engagement. I really look up to this lady because i admire her strength, determination and most importantly, her kind & humble nature.

fam-7

Famous Face Number 6: Nursha Ismail, radio DJ for 94.2 fm. When Nursha engaged my makeup/hairstyling services for her engagement, I swear I did not know it was Nursha the radio DJ until I clicked on her FB display picture. My point is, Nursha lives a really low profile life despite the radio celebrity she already is.

fam-2

Famous Face Number 7: Lydia Izzati, a Suria actress. I invited Lydia to be one of the models to promote Studioperfect’s wedding portfolio because I know she has such a keen interest in the modelling industry. Besides, we were always conversing in Twitter prior to the portfolio photoshoot. This Lydia Izzati loves to tease me, if you must know.

fam-5

Famous Face Number 8: Malaque Mahdaly, a former Singapore Idol 3 contestant.  Okay, I was quite starstruck when she came to my place for makeup. Kuch Kuch Ho Tahai . Hellooooo, if you followed Singapore Idol 3, you would have enjoyed Malaque’s unforgettable performance. Which performance?

This one!

So yeah, Kuch Kuch Ho Tahai.

Dang! I should have asked Malaque to sing live for me while I did her makeup that day. Biggest regret, for now.

 fam-4

 fam-14

So my dear Anonymous, hope you are now not so curious anymore. 8 famous faces I have worked on to date, but nothing beats this particular famous face that I see almost everyday. My favourite celebrity, by default. :p

 fam-1

Never mind the fact that she betrayed me by switching from Blackberry to Iphone!!  Still trying to get over it.

…And that makes it 9 famous faces altogether.
