I’ve been watching you: Netgear Arlo

On normal days, I am generally very busy. There are times where I have to leave my girls at home with my parents and/or the helper due to events, meetings or running of errands. So when both my husband and I are not at home, I will constantly be worried about my kid’s well-being and safety at home.

I have been checking out several home monitoring systems but Netgear Arlo Smart Home Security Camera caught my attention!

ARLO3

Want to know what is so special about Netgear Arlo Smart Home Security Camera?

IT IS FLEXIBLE!

ARLO2

What does this mean? It means that I do not have to attach it to wall. It means that it does not have one fixed position. It means that I can place it wherever I want without needing to find a power outlet. With its 100% wireless configuration, weatherproof design and night-vision functionality you will be able to place the cameras anywhere at home, be it indoors or outdoors. Each set comes with two cameras, so you can have two different views!

WHY INSTALL A HOME SECURITY CAMERA?

  1. TRUST ISSUES

Some of us may install home monitoring systems at home to monitor the helper who is at home with our kids.

When you leave your kids at home with the helper or when the kids are alone at home alone, it is easy to track what is happening and that will give you a peace of mind. High chances are, the helpers will be more careful and alert knowing that their every movement is being monitored.

As much as I would love to trust the helper or no matter how nice the helper is, at the end of the day, she is still an outsider. No matter what, the safety of our kids comes first. It is always better to be safe than sorry, agree?

Netgear Arlo Smart Home Security Camera measures at about 2 inches wide and 3 inches tall. Pretty small and can be easily hidden if your intention is to secretly spy on the kids or helper. LOL. But if you were to ask me, I seriously do not mind if the cameras are seen.

  1. SENSE OF SECURITY

Some of us install CCTV to give us a high sense of security. In other words, we will know what exactly in taking place when we are not at home. Any theft activity can also be traced easily.

  1. KEEP UPDATED

And come on, I want to be kept updated about the ongoings at home even if I cannot be home with the girls. It’s like being with the kids even though I am not physically there with them.

arlo6

The above video was taken when the girls were having their class with their Ustazah. Even though I was not there with them, I was able to keep track of what they were doing and that made feel feel at ease.

And here’s another angle.

I could even take screenshots of the videos.

arlo8

Netgear Arlo Smart Home Security Camera is battery powered that lasts up to 6 months.

One minute I can place it in the girls’ room to monitor what they are doing when I am not at home. Say, if they promise me that they will do their revision or work, then I can check to see if they will really do their work. Then if petty fights happen between them, I can always record, play the video and show it to them when I am back. Want to twist the story and push the blame to someone else? Fat chance, girls. LOL.

It has never been so easy to see what’s happening at home without really being there!

HAHA THEY SPOTTED THE CAMERA! LOL.

As soon as Arlo senses movement, video is being captured and I get the notification(s), like this!

arlo4

That’s right, they will only start recording once motion is detected so that no battery power ever goes to waste.

The videos captured will also be stored to the cloud so that I can play it back within 7 days free of charge.

All I need to do is to log in to my Arlo app and view the videos live or later!

arlo7

Or imagine this scenario, parents.

You are on a vacation with your spouse, without the kids. Mummy and daddy sometimes need that trip without the kids, right? You can synchronize the cameras and base station with a push of a button, download the Arlo app, and you are set for instantaneous real time video monitoring and recordings. But still, this does not mean you can keep leaving your kids behind. HAHA.

Wherever you are, you can now monitor the movements of your little ones simply through an app.

Netgear Arlo Smart Home Security Camera makes a day at work, a trip to the supermarket or even a vacation overseas less worrying for you!

With its 100% wireless configuration, weatherproof design and night-vision functionality you will be able to place the cameras anywhere at home, be it indoors or outdoors. Snap the camera onto the magnetic mount and you can easily adjust the camera to point to any direction.

Netgear Arlo Smart Home Security Kit with two cameras (VMS3230) is available at Harvey Norman and Challenger at $599.00.

ARLO1

Two cameras mean you can place the cameras at different parts of the house and monitor both areas at the same time!

SIMPLY AWESOME!

#MyMandai Moments

The wildlife parks are a treasure trove of memories for almost every family here in Singapore.

Whenever someone mentions the Singapore Zoo or Jurong Bird Park, I cannot help to recall my early memories and unforgettable moments with my family at these wildlife parks.

One of my best #MyMandai moments was during one of my primary school excursions where I had my photo taken with an orang utan. The very thought of bringing back the polaroid photo to show my parents and siblings made me beam with pride.

Yes, it was a big deal to me back then.

Gosh.

I have been to the zoos many times playing different roles each time – as a daughter, student, preschool teacher, primary school teacher, mummy, and of course, as a proud Singaporean. Indeed, I have had many great #MyMandai moments over the years.

IF ONLY I COULD FIND ALL THE OLD PHOTOS AND SHARE THEM WITH YOU! URGH.

Nobody ever gets sick of the Singapore Zoo. Not me. Not my family. Definitely not my kids.

They went to the zoo when they were still toddlers.

zb17

zb3

They went to the zoo with their teachers and friends when they were preschoolers.

zb18zb5

They went to the zoo recently when they are already in primary school!

zb2

zb11

zb14

It’s like, you can never say no to spending quality family time there because there are just so many activities to do and animals to look at.

And it’s especially fun when you get to show off your intelligence once in a while to your kids by telling them things they do not know about the certain species of animals there. And then they will go, “Wahhhhhhhhh!” or “Really Mummy? I didn’t know that!” HAHAH. Kids these days are too smart; we need opportunities to outsmart them sometimes.

Them with the fake crocodile.

zb7

And following picture was taken by Sharleez during her school excursion.

Real crocodile! She went home and showed me this photo ever so proudly! She was like, “Mummy, I took picture of a real crocodile! Can you believe it?” This is definitely Sharleez’s very own #MyMandai moment.

 zb10

It’s very exciting to know that the Mandai area will be rejuvenated into a complete nature destination. I was informed that they are hoping to bring the Bird Park over and add more nature attractions in the Mandai area! The first phase of this rejuvenation will be completed in 2020. This is definitely awesome! Imagine having all the wildlife parks within the same area!

How about you?

What are your #MyMandai moments? Was it a school excursion when you were young, or a recent trip with your family? Well, now you can get rewarded by just sharing your photos. , just by sharing your #MyMandai moment, you will get a S$10 voucher. That’s not all – the most moving entry every week gets S$100 voucher. So go share your photos now at http://www.mymandai.com . I have submitted mine, go check out the website now. I had a great time browsing all the memories from different visitors – some even dated as far back as 1970s! How precious!

ALL THE BEST!

7 years later.

I never thought I would have to go through this again.

I mean, I was more than contented the way life was before this. I loved how everything was falling into place. I loved how I had things under my control.

I loved the routines.

But like they always say, we can only plan so much. Eventually, it is never up to us to decide.

I felt so isolated for the past few weeks. I did not want to be disturbed. I did not want to socialize. I did not even want to touch my handphone. Whatsapp messages were read and replied to like hours later. Some, I did not even reply.

YES, IT WAS THAT BAD. SORRY GUYS.

I missed my period on 5th December. A week later, and it still did not come. I had all the usual symptoms like a splitting headache, sore breasts, and even my bad temper, except that they were tenfold worse than before. The headache for instance, lingered and did not want to go. The sudden and sharp pain was only on one side of my head and when the attack came, it was exceptionally bad around the temple or left eye. That made my temper even worse than ever. Nobody could even talk to me. I had to lie down and close my eyes until the headache got better.

So during our staycation at Changi Crowne Plaza Hotel the other day, I told Tatek that I wanted to buy the pregnancy test kit. He was like, “REALLY???!!!!”

And so I bought the test kit.

Tested and it was a dark blue +….

pregnant1

Yes, at the age of 34, I am 2 months pregnant with #mynumber 4 (HAHA NOT TWINS!) and my EDD is on National Day 2016,insya’allah.

THANKS TATEK! GRRRR.

Meanwhile, my morning sickness is really bad. Really, really bad. I hope it will get better over time.

So forgive me if my behaviour is a bit off on a tangent.

pregnant2

Do have me and my #MYNUMBER4 in your prayers? <3

And oh, you can congratulate me now.

A Jolly Seafood Fare: Fish & Co.

Just the other day, I received this really special delivery from Fish & Co.

fishnco9

Why, of course I would want to bring my family for a Christmas meal at Fish & Co.

After all, my girls LOVE Fish & Co. and get so excited at the mere mention of having lunch or dinner there!

And come on, just look at their Christmas specials!

fishncoxmas

I love trying out anything that is available for a limited time period only because I know that it is often a now or never kind of situation.

So we arranged to have lunch at their newly opened Bugis+ outlet right after our Treasure Island play.

fishnco8

(Their Bugis+ branch is soooooooo beautiful, by the way! A birthday party there will be wicked! Heheh.)

First up, our drinks.

fishnco2

Blue Dream, Jazz Me-Up and Double Yellow Line for us!

Mysha and I especially loved the Jazz Me-Up because it has a fine mixture of sweet and sour! Really refreshing to the max, if you ask me.

Grilled White Fish with Ebiko

fishnco5

OH MY GOODNESS, THIS ONE IS REALLY REALLY REAAAAAAALLLY NICE!

What is it basically?

It is Grilled White Fish baked with ebiko roe and mozzarella cheese. We like how the fish is not too cheesy or rich. It’s almost like not eating cheese at all.

We might just substitute the usual Fish &  Chips with this instead for our future Fish & Co. visits, if they have plans to retain this one!

Shrimp & Clam Aglio Olio

fishnco4

If you are an Aglio Olio lover like me, you will definitely like this one too.

And at long last…

We got to feast on this luxurious pot of Seafood goodness!

fishnco3

It is like dipping yourself into a cream mushroom ocean of prawns, clams, mussels, scallops, fish!

REALLY, REALLY GOOD AND SUCH A SATISFYING MEAL!

And how can we leave Fish & Co without their famous Hot Fudge cake?

fishnco6

Thank you Fish & Co. for yet another satisfying meal!

And thank you so much to The Good Folks for making this possible. 🙂

If you would like to try out their Jolly Seafood Fare, you can do so till 3 January 2016!

Treasure Island by SRT

Ahoy mates! How be you?

How about free tickets t’ watch Treaaye Island?

I meant to ask, how about free tickets to watch Treasure Island by SRT’S The Little Company?

Hehe. We went to watch Treasure Island just a week ago at SRT.

srt4

srt3

Come on, it is an open secret by now – WE LOVE SRT/TLC PRODUCTIONS!

Go on, tell everyone.

I will also try to dress the girls up according to the theme whenever possible. 🙂

srt9

srt2

We first started attending their plays in 2012. That was like 3 years ago when Sharleez was 5 and my twins were 3! Ever since then, we have been hooked and have been going to all of their productions! Their plays and musicals are suitable for kids aged 3-12 supposedly but hey, if adults like me and my husband are entertained just as well all the time, then I guess their plays and musicals are suitable for everyone!

srt5

Their current production is Treasure Island.

SRT8

I insist that you must bring your kids to watch this production!

srt11

What is it about?

A new adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s popular novel of the same name, Treasure Island follows the adventure of Jim Hawkins, a lion-hearted 13-year-old girl who receives a treasure map from a kooky old seaman. Jim is tasked to help find the hidden treasure, but the road to riches is never smooth sailing.

A swashbuckling, action-packed musical about friendship and trust. This exhilarating show for the entire family will keep you on the edge of your seat!

Source: SRT

Why bring the kids to watch this?

  1. Teaches children the importance of loyalty and friendship, and to practise discernment in those they chose to place their trust in.
  2. This story features a courageous female protagonist who proves that no feat is too great for girls or boys.
  3. Engages the imagination by transporting young children to a foreign land, and expands their world beyond their everyday lives.

We loved the amazingly beautiful sets as usual. SRT never fails to put in so much efforts in their costumes and props, so that is another reason why my girls and I look forward to every production of theirs.

SRT7

Treasure Island has a fine mixture of puppetry, songs, beautiful props and of course, energetic expression by all of their actors.

srt15

The musical itself has a slightly different twist from the original story but you will definitely enjoy it. Every single production of SRT/TLC also has a moral or learning point at the end of it. As we all know it, kids will only be relieved once  the story ends nicely – they will always expect the good to prevail and the bad to be punished or to somehow repent. HAHA.

Want a little preview?

Okay watch this!

LOOKS LIKE FUN, RIGHT?

Treasure Island will reiterate to their young audience (and their not so young audience) on the importance of friendship over anything else.

Human relationship is the real treasure in life.

“Not all treasure is silver and gold, mate.”
