Live Well. Laugh Often. Love Much.

Baking with Betty Crocker.

My girls love cakes and all those fluffy edible stuff but they especially love it when it’s their mummy doing all the cooking and baking with them.

Baking actually helps to solve our kids’ cravings and gives pride to us moms for taking care of our kids’ sweet tooth with our own bakes!

THEREFORE, I TRY TO BAKE…

ONCE IN A BLUE MOON.

(And you do know how often the blue moon really appears, right? Yup, it is as good as impossible to see a blue moon actually.)

You get what I mean.

As we all know, mothers are the busiest people on earth!

That said, I love anything that is fuss free, like Betty Crocker!

All in one box.

Minimal additions.

Pop into an oven.

CAKE IS READY!

See, I am not so much of a baker. I have always thought that baking was tough and troublesome.

But if I can easily bake (with Betty Crocker products), so can you.

Betty Crocker is the pioneer when it comes to bake mixes and they are also the first to innovate ready-to-use bake mix. Perfect, for mummies like me.

So yeah yeah yeah, I decided to bake with my girls the other day, just to prove to them that MUMMY CAN BAKE (with the help from Betty Crocker).

FIRST, WE MADE BROWNIES!

Like I mentioned, baking is a piece of cake (literally) whenever Betty Crocker is involved.

Recipe?

Hold on, let me read first.

Next, prepare the following ingredients.

 betty20

  • Betty Crocker Fudge Brownie Mix
  • Two eggs
  • 2/3 cup of vegetable oil
  • ¼ cup of water

In a medium bowl, mix all of the abovementioned ingredients.

Stir until well blended.

Stir until you get impatient with one another. LOL.

 betty11

Then, spread evenly in pan.

Bake as directed, let cool, and serve.

I was baking brownies with three little girls, so yeah, of course they wanted their brownies colourful.

END RESULT?

 betty17

YUMMYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY.

Easy enough for you?

EASY ENOUGH FOR ME.

And because I was pretty much on a roll, I decided to also make chocolate chip cookies with my girls.

 Recipe?

JUST AS EASY AS THE FIRST ONE, IF NOT EASIER.

  • BETTY CROCKER CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE MIX
  • ½ CUP BUTTER
  • 1 EGG

 betty21

As usual, read the instructions first.

 betty13

In a medium bowl, stir Cookie Mix, softened butter and egg until soft dough forms.

 betty23

 betty16

Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls on an ungreased cookie sheet. My girls wanted their cookies larger, so we dropped the dough by tablespoonfuls instead.

 betty19

Bake as directed, let cool and serve with fresh milk!

True, baking is a fun bonding activity.

Many times, we often think twice or thrice even about getting the kids involved in baking because of the mess that they would create. Please do not be intimidated, mummies. Traditional baking does create a lot of mess because of the very fact that a lot of ingredients and preparations are needed before you can finally bake a cake, for instance. However, baking with Betty Crocker is not nearly as messy as you think!

Besides, wouldn’t you want to share special moments with them?

Moments that you know they will treasure forever for sure?

I mean, I am sure my girls would want to remember all their petty squabbles which they had throughout the baking session.

I even caught them in action!

Come, I show you.

EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM WANTED TO DO THE SAME THING AT THE SAME TIME!

LOL. OF COURSE I ASKED THEM TO SORT OUT THEIR DIFFERENCES THEMSELVES, AND STRESSED TO THEM THE IMPORTANCE OF TEAMWORK.

ALL IN ALL, IT IS IMPORTANT TO BE PATIENT WHEN BAKING WITH YOUR KIDS, AND OH, PLEASE KEEP YOUR SENSE OF HUMOUR.

(If you want to be so sticky and strict about everything, might as well you bake the cake and eat it yourself.)

I admit that I was pretty agitated initially because the girls just did not want to take turns.

Cooking with children is one of the best ways to make connections across and amongst many disciplines.

If all else fails, just bake for your kids.

They will still appreciate it because it is something called labour of love when you bake or cook for them.

Every mother’s dream is to serve the best for their kids – every “best” is made out of labour. Agree?

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY, MUMMIES!
