Live Well. Laugh Often. Love Much.

A Sta(r) Is Born.

26 October 2012 was such an eventful day.

Firstly, it was my darling daddy’s birthday or @LanChilliCrab, as he is endearingly known in the Twitter and Instagram world. Although we could not have a proper celebration this time round for someone as special as Daddy, we still managed to get him a tiny durian cake with a candle!

But Daddy did not want to cut the cake or blow the candle when we asked him to. Intially, we thought he was just plain upset that we got him such a small cake. It was not even a proper birthday cake to begin with because PrimaDeli at KKH was undergoing a mini renovation, out of all days!

Nah, I know my Daddy. He is not that unreasonable…on most days!

SO DO YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE ACTUAL REASON WAS?

He wanted to celebrate it together with someone new in his life who shares the same birthday with him!

OH YES I AM TALKING ABOUT MY GORGEOUS BABY NIECE, SHAISTA EMAN!

See those chubby fingers poking at Shaista? Yup, they belonged to my girls and Shan Ehan. What’s new? They just have to poke, pinch, squeeze, and press any baby they see. There were definitely a lot of “OH MY GOD!” moments yesterday because these kids just could not control themselves. We were worried for Shaista’s safety, you know? HAHAHA!

HAPPIEST BIRTHDAY DADDY & SHAISTA EMAN!

26 OCTOBER WILL NEVER BE THE SAME AGAIN.

Thank goodness for our group discussion in Whatsapp titled ‘THE ROSLANS’ which my brother Sofian created for all of us in the family. We were constantly updated on the progress the moment Nurul got into the delivery suite.

But initially, Sofian tried to get on our nerves. When we asked him for updates, he sent us the following.

Read: WAH! ALL CANNOT WAIT IS IT?

FUNNY OR WHAT?!

But when Nurul’s contractions meant business, we got the real updates.

Oxytocin inserted.”

“4 cm now.”

Epidural in.”

“5 cm now.”

“7 cm.”

“Fully dilated. Preparing to push.”

“DONE!”

Wow. Did not know giving birth could be that easy and fast. Hehe. How come mine took more than five hours for both pregnancies? Tsk. So the moment we got to know that Nurul was already 5 cm dilated, we quickly got ready. Nurul told us to take our time because she had a feeling she would give birth at noon most probably, but we did not give a hoot. We were already ready by 10 am! Really, we were super eager to see Shaista. We waited nine looooooooooooong months for this moment, okay? The Nadyas even waited outside the Delivery Suite with their gifts for Shaista and Shan!

But when Shaista and Nurul took so long…

…they decided to just wait in the waiting room, together with the rest of us. :S

The moment we finally managed to see Shaista, we behaved like barbarians. Everyone was pushing one another to have a look at Shaista, and to snap endless pictures of her. We could have tried to be a bit patient, but we did not want to do that. Too impatient to be patient yesterday. Totally uncouth, we all were.

Shaista on the hand, is perfect in every single way. Such a star, she already is. 😀

Thank you to everyone who came to visit yesterday, on behalf of my brother and Nurul!

As usual, the Shahids were the first few to come to visit, and for that, THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH! That’s why we all adore you guys a lot.

The lovely couple, Shahir and Syahidah were there to visit too!

You know, I am very proud of Nurul! Her labour this time round was super smooth and fast. Alhamdullilah. Her labour with Shan the previous time was pretty long, and I think that might have caused her to be a bit skeptical about trying again for the second time. But that’s the funny thing about labour. We will never know what we might get and truthfully, it’s not entirely up to us either how our baby will come into this world. How you want things to be will not always turn out likewise.

At the end of the day, God is always fair.

I still remember clearly Nurul telling me this right after she gave birth to Shan.

“Dah enough la. Just one child enough okay. No more.”

Yeah right.

Look at her now, she is already a mummy of two!

AND I AM A VERY PROUD AUNTIE AGAIN!

Tell you what Shaista, I am going to be the best auntie you could ever dream of having. We will play dress up, and you can be my Nadyas’ doll anytime you want to. And then right, we will go out together holding hands. I will even introduce you to my favourite fast food, MCDEES! Let’s grow fat together, baby. 😀

I bet you are going to love Papa Yat too because well, everyone including me adores him so very much.

And Shaista dear, your picture today really reminded Papa Yat and me of Kakak Mysha and Kakak Myreen when they were newborns!

Without a doubt, you will be best friends with your cousins Kak Sharleez Nadya, Kak Mysha Nadya, and Kak Myreen Nadya, AND OF COURSE YOUR BIG BROTHER SHAN!

And oh yes, let’s not forget Dada and Nana! They will definitely treat you like a princess, just like how they treat the Nadyas. I can bet that they will never ever scold you or say no to you even. How lucky. So you know what to do okay, Shaista?

And just like that, Nurul and my brother Sofian are proud parents of two very adorable kids! <3

CONGRATULATIONS YOU BOTH!

If I had my child to raise all over again,

I’d build self-esteem first, and the house later.

I’d finger-paint more, and point the finger less.

I would do less correcting and more connecting.

I’d take my eyes off my watch, and watch with my eyes.

I’d take more hikes and fly more kites.

I’d stop playing serious, and seriously play.

I would run through more fields and gaze at more stars.

I’d do more hugging and less tugging.
